ROAM on Italian National Newspaper QN
05 February 2017
On Sunday, February 5th 2 2017, two years after the project start, Italian Newspaper QN – Quotidiano Nazionale interwiewed Prof. Antonella Bogoni,
that presented ROAM. ROAM, “Revolutionising optical fibre transmission and networking using the Orbital Angular Momentum of light”, is an innovative research project,
co-funded by the European Commission within the Horizon 2020 Programme, and coordinated by the National Laboratory of Photonics Networks of CNIT, under the guide of Prof. Antonella Bogoni.
The main goal of ROAM is the use of innovative “silicon splinters” able to guide the light and write, recognize, and manipulate a particular property of light:
the orbital angular momentum. This property, as explained in the article, can be exploited as a new domain to multiply data that are transported by the light, contributing
to make faster the Internet of the future.
